West Bengal Primary Teacher Recruitment 2025 – 13,421 Vacancies

The West Bengal Board of Primary Education has released an important notification announcing the recruitment of Assistant Teachers for Primary and Junior Basic Schools across all districts of the state. This large-scale recruitment aims to fill 13,421 vacancies and strengthen the foundation of primary education by appointing trained, qualified and capable teachers. Eligible candidates who hold the required educational qualifications, training certifications and TET qualification can apply online within the specified dates. The recruitment will be conducted strictly in accordance with the West Bengal Primary School Teachers Recruitment Rules, 2016 (amended up to date), ensuring a fair and transparent selection process.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India.

2. Educational Qualifications

A candidate must have any one of the following qualification routes:

Higher Secondary Based Routes

  • Higher Secondary (HS) with 50% marks + 2-year D.El.Ed
  • HS with 45% marks + 2-year D.El.Ed (as per NCTE norms)
  • HS with 50% marks + 4-year B.El.Ed
  • HS with 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Special Education

Graduation Based Route

  • Graduation in any discipline + 2-year D.El.Ed

3. Teacher Eligibility Test

  • TET qualification is mandatory, and it must be the TET conducted by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education under NCTE guidelines.

4. Relaxation in Marks

  • SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD, EC, Ex-Servicemen candidates receive 5% relaxation in required marks.

5. Medium of Instruction Requirement

For all mediums except Santhali:

  • Candidate must have passed the language of the medium as first or second language in Higher Secondary or equivalent.

For Santhali medium (Ol-Chiki script):

  • Candidate must be able to read, write and speak Santhali in Ol-Chiki script.
  • Passing Santhali as a subject at HS level is not compulsory.

6. Age Limit (as on 1 January 2025)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years

Salary Scale

Assistant Teachers will receive salary as per the West Bengal Government’s Pay Rules for primary teachers, which include:
