Home Remedies For Damaged Hair - Highly Beneficial In Treating This Problem


Often we may shudder at the thought of losing all our hair. In this hectic, stressful modern life, there is every possibility of the nightmare to get translated in to reality. Thus we must exercise extra caution and devote quality time to hair care. Moreover a head full of glossy, thick tresses not only add to our good looks but also is a sign of health and general wellbeing. These days our hair is exposed to several hair foes that act on our hair damaging it, making it lusterless and frizzy. Thus damaged hair problem is quite common in the modern times.

Normally our hair is composed of proteins and consists of 3 layers: medulla, cortex and cuticle. Wearing out of the protective protein bond and roughening and opening up of cuticles lead to damaged hair. Physically damaged hair is rough and dry to touch. It is prone to entangling, chipping or breaking off and it tends to get split ends. It may lead to dandruff and loss of hair. The factors triggering the frustrating hair problem may be listed as follows: 1. Low water intake
2. Intake of a diet deficient in essential nutrients
3. Excessive hairstyling with the help of heat styling tools like hot rollers, flat irons, curling irons, blow dryers etc.
4. Excessive use of harsh styling chemicals like bleach, hair dyes, relaxers, straighteners, perms etc.

Home Remedies

1. Apply yoghurt on hair generously from root to tip and wash hair after 40 minutes. This sufficiently nourishes hair and rescues you from damaged hair problem.
2. Blend the yolk of 1 egg, 1 teaspoon honey and 3 teaspoons olive oil or almond oil. Use the mixture as a hair pack on damp hair. Wash it after 30 minutes. You can also mix egg white and in to lukewarm water and whip for sometime. Apply the mixture on hair dampened with warm water. After 30 minutes, rinse off with cold water. Egg, being a natural conditioner, nourishes and repairs damaged hair.
3. Mix equal parts of castor oil, almond oil, olive oil and coconut oil. Massage your hair regularly for 30 minutes with the mixture. Leave it on hair for few hours before washing. This is highly beneficial in treating damaged hair.
4. Massage hair thoroughly with heated, melted mayonnaise for 30 minutes daily. Then rinse off with lukewarm water. This will quickly fix the problem of dry, damaged hair. You can also apply mayonnaise on hair, keep it overnight for better penetration and wash off the next morning with a mild shampoo.
5. Mix the pulp of an over-ripe banana, pulp of few avocadoes and few drops of olive oil. Apply on hair and leave for 20 minutes. Then rinse off with lukewarm water. This is an effective home remedy for damaged hair.
6. Blend the juice of 1 lime and 5 spoons of honey. Apply the mixture on hair. Leave for 20 minutes before rinsing off. This sufficiently moisturizes hair and mends damaged hair
7. A jojoba oil massage is a good damaged hair cure. Jojoba oil may also be used as base oil along with the aromatic essential oils like lavender, juniper, or bergamot.
